Message to 4th Grade Parents

Week of 3/09/09

*Don't forget about our reading incentive. 4th graders need to read a total of 180 min. A calendar will be sent home on this week's Friday Note. You can keep track of minutes read by writing on the calendar and then signing bottom.

*In English we are currently working on poetry, adjectives, and writing different kinds of poems using colorful adjectives. Students are typing their poems on Microsoft Word and will compile all of their examples into a poetry book!

*In Reading we are currently reading the book Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff. We are working on summarizing, compare/contrast, predicting, and changes in problems and settings.

*In Math the students are learning how to do long division. We learned how to divide a three digit number by a 1 digit number. We'll also be starting measurement soon.

*In Science we're learning about the two kinds of electricity. Current electricity and static electricity. The students have been able to build a series circuit and Friday they'll be attempting to build a parallel circuit. We had a lot of fun doing these projects!
