July Board Meeting Recap

The Worth County R-III Board of Education met on July 18, 2022 to conduct its monthly business. The board approved an agriculture program improvement grant to help with the purchase of supplies and tools for the ag department. The board also approved committee assignments for the 22-23 school year as well as approved lunch prices for this school year.

In non-action items, the board discussed goals for the 2022-2023 school year, visited the student and employee handbooks, and participated in required yearly board member in-service. The superintendent’s report described the improvements that were made to the school’s network using eRate funds. Some of these improvements include fiber cables, routers, and switches to increase data speeds. The report also outlined fund balance comparisons over the last three years. The district’s unrestricted fund balance increased to 49.83% and the capital improvement fund balance increased by $90,000. These increases were largely due to extra revenue from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds.

In other board business, the board approved service bids for milk provider, trash service, and pest control. New bleachers for the softball field were also approved during the meeting, to add to the other renovations that are being made at the field this summer. An agreement with Northeast Nodaway to provide transportation to Northwest Technical School was also approved.
